Corso di Studi Codice Piano di Studio preventivamente approvato Da (compreso) A (escluso) Insegnamento
Ing Ind - Inf (Mag.)(ord. 270) - MI (473) AUTOMATION AND CONTROL ENGINEERING - INGEGNERIA DELL'AUTOMAZIONE*AZZZZ088860 - DYNAMICS OF ELECTRICAL MACHINES AND DRIVES

Obiettivi dell'insegnamento
The main objective of the course consists of the definition of the procedures for the design of the closed-loop controls of electromechanical devices.
To achieve this objective, different configurations of electrical machines, power supplies and control systems are presented, in order to highlight the main problems that a designer might encounter in defining the control system of a particular electromechanical system.

Risultati di apprendimento attesi

Knowledge and understanding

After taking the exam the student:

  • knows the methodologies and the principles to describe the dynamic behavior of the main electric machines, starting from the electromagnetic structure of the machine
  • understands and knows the dynamic operating modes of the main electrical machines
  • knows how to identify the expressions and dependencies of the electromagnetic torque
  • knows the effect that the power supply has on the operating regions of the drive

Applying knowledge and understanding

After taking the exam the student:

  • is able to identify and calculate the main parameters of the electric drive control system
  • is able to define simulation environments for industrial processe whose automation is based on the presence of electric drives.

Communication

After taking the exam, the student is able to effectively communicate the results of the transient analysis of an electric machine and its control.

2. Design of the field oriented control of an induction machine

3. Design of the scalar control of an induction machine

4. Design of the direct torque control of an induction machine

5. Design of the field oriented control of an ac brushless

Prerequisiti

Knowledge of steady state and dynamic models of electrical machines is required. Furthermore, knowledge of elementary control schemes in open and closed loop is required.

Modalità di valutazione

The exam consists of an oral test to verify the knowledge of the control of the electric drives and a discussion on a report of one of the excercise activities, taken during the semester.

The exam consists of two main questions on two different electrical drives in order to test the knowledge of the student about:

- dynamic models of the electrical machine, starting from its structure

- expression of the electromagnetic torque

- control schemes (mainly torque and flux control loops)

- operating regions

- estimators (eventually)

The report has to show the definition of the parameters of the control system and the results of the simulation of the application (Matlab/Simulink).
