Arc - Urb - Cost (Mag.)(ord. 270) - MI (1217) ARCHITETTURA E DISEGNO URBANO - ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN
053071 - FINAL STUDIO A
The Studio concludes the training course and addresses the question of the architectural project and the intervention on the physical environment in various disciplinary areas, in line with the didactic contents of the Course of Study.
In the Studio, in which different disciplines are integrated, the students are asked to prepare a complex and innovative project through the tools of architecture and urban design, having mastered the feasibility of the project.
Risultati di apprendimento attesi
- acquire knowledge and understanding skills to design in complex and problematic contexts that require non-standardized and homologated solutions, but instead imply the search for innovative solutions;
- are capable of using the knowledge acquired to describe and interpret the settlement phenomena and address the complex problems of architecture, cities and territories;
- are capable of elaborating, conceiving and implementing the architectural project in various thematic areas;
- are capable of formulating and solving the problems of the different intervention scales in an innovative way.
The program of the Final Studio A – second semester - deals with the reconstruction of cities damaged from destructions caused by important events in the European and in the oriental parts of the world.
The cities and the areas will be chosen in connection with the Thematic Studio leaded by prof. Michele Caja starting from the urban and architectural relevance of the themes and the availability of materials useful to carry out a complex design experience.
The themes chosen by the Studio are characterized by the presence of urban design issues in relationship to the new city construction and to the existing city, identifying these as the main theoretical and practical issues with which architecture must (and will for a long time) deal in the future.
The designing process involves the development of a general urban plan for the reorganization of the area, which takes into account the pre-existing and distinct historical thresholds, with a particular study of a mixed-uses building (residential, public functions) considered from the point of view of compositional, typological and constructive choices.
The presence of structural skills is aimed at tackling unitarily the different aspects of the design process and to give students a full understanding of the deep and intimate coherence between the architectural idea and its constructive development.
The lectures and critiques (also from architects, scholars and professors from Italy and abroad) will mainly cover issues related to the relationships between city and architecture and will be conducted by analysis of cities experiences, contemporary works, examples of Modern Movement and among the works of the past.
Modalità di valutazione
The exam will cover the theoretical knowledge acquired from the lessons and the capacity to solve the problems posed in relation to the urban context, to the functional, distributive and constructive specificities and to the expressive abilities posed in the architectural solution of the project.
