Obiettivi dell'insegnamento

Goal of 'technologies for motor behaviour analysis and virtual modelling 2' is focused at providing the student with the knowledge about advanced techniques for motion capture and exploitation of human motion for simulation and virtualization with application in functional surgical planning, human factors ergonomics. In the module 2, a full panorama of paradigmatic and modern techniques is presented and the assignment of practical projects requiring the experimental set-up of human motion collection and complete the pipeline for importing this data in to human motion virtualization environment will allow students to familiarize with the problematics of experiments organization and simulation potentials.


Risultati di apprendimento attesi

The first result expected is the deep interdisciplinary knowledge about the techniques for motor behaviour analysis, simulation and their biomedical related requirements (DD1). The student will be, with the acquired knowledge, able to organize meaningfully experimental campaign for human motion capture and to design appropriate data analysis for their exploitation in the frame of human motion virtualization software tools. (DD2). The course is mainly thought to allow the student to gain the knowledge of the aspects of the description of each method and/or system at the detailed mathematical approach underlying the models implemented for motion simulation and virtualization. The interview focused on their experimental experience and on the concepts provided during the lectures will expand students’ focused communication skills (DD4)


Argomenti trattati

The course describes in detail the core techniques for the measurement of human motor acts. The lectures and other activities include the following topics:

1) Methods for human motor behaviour simulation and virtualization; human body modelling;

application of captured human motion data to virtual models and scene to simulate interaction;

2) Advanced camera calibration techniques; technologies for capturing and rendering human body surfaces;

3) Human factors; human machine interface; functional surgery planning, learned through the application of specific sotware applications for human motion simulation


Prerequisiti

Human body biomechanics; Biomedical imaging; Basic electronic devices (basic circuits, operational optical sensors), mathematical analysis and projective geometry


Modalità di valutazione

Evaluation will be carried out through an interview which will assess the level of participation of each student to the practical assigned project by discussing the critical aspects of the experience and the obtained results. Further preparation assessment will be focused during the interview on the concepts provided during the frontal lectures to the students.
