The demand for mobility and system integration. Railway and road infrastructure (Access and use of the infrastructure; Safety, regulation and signal systems; Infrastructure management, maintenance and diagnostics; Planning, designing and realization of new infrastructures; Infrastructures of the future). Stations like inter-modal Hub. Long-distance transport services in Europe. Rail transport (Travel management; Maintenance and diagnostics on rolling stock). From transport services to mobility services. Freight Transport. Freight Transport on "rail". Industry features and future challenges. Future mobility scenarios.

At the beginning of the course the students will be divided in small teams (5 persons max). A single project work, to be carried out during all the course duration, will be assigned to each team.
At the end of the course the teams are required to prepare a written report on the project developed during the course.
The final examination consists in an oral presentationand discussion of the project.
The attendance to the lectures is mandatory.
