The aim of the course is to provide the competences needed to perform the technological design of typical classes of payloads, together with the mutual constraints between the payload and the main spacecraft bus design.
Mechanical Design: Framework and structure design – Loads identification – Stress analysis – Design for vibrations – Material selection – Mechanism design and actuation – Space optics.
Thermal Design: Space thermal environment – Thermal control elements – Thermal design strategy – Thermal mathematical models.
Electronic Design: Noise and filtering for space sensors – Data Handling – Power systems – Harness and connectors.
The course includes traditional classroom lectures, numerical laboratory sessions and design laboratory session.
