Objective:

 

This course aims at understanding the complex spatial requirements and special equipments of yacht interiors as mobile environments. Especially in designing a custom tailored yacht, a proper definition of user needs and lifestyle and efficient use of considerably small volumes become critical. During the process of work, not only the human ergonomics and universal design principles specific to yachts but also the construction techniques, applying marine materials and detailing are the key issues to be discussed with the students.Withinthescope of thiscourse, studentsareexpected not tofollowthelecturesandtomakepresentationsonly, but alsotoacquiretheneededinformationandskillsto be abletopropose an originalinteriordesignsolutionand/or a specialfurnitureand/or an extraordinaryjointdetailand/or a creative service systemand/or a unique set of marinetextile.

Learning Outcomes:

 

At the end of this course:

- Students will be able to propose design solutions for the complex spatial requirements of a user's custom tailored yacht.

- Students will be able to design a yacht interior and/or a special furniture and/or an extraordinary joint detail and/or a creative service system and/or a unique set of marine textile by considering the norms and standarts of human ergonomy and universal design principles specific to yachts.

- Students will be able to understand, classify and criticise the academic knowledge on yachts.

- Students will be able to take an equal and active role in a group by experiencing a collaborative work with the team friends.

- Students will be able to present their design ideas efficiently by using 2d and 3d visualization techniques.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

 

Participation which depends on the instructor’s observation during the course time is the motivation and performance of students.

Presentation which is a discussion on an assignment is to understand how much the student thinks critical.

Midterm is a conventional exam: writing the answers and comments on questions is to test the technical knowledge accumulated by the student.

Final Submission which is to design a booklet with images and keywords depend on completely the originality of proposal.
