Objective of the course

 

The course describes the main types of "green" and describe the multiple functions of green areas: environmental, aesthetic, social, cultural, educational and economic.

The course aims to provide, through lectures, tutorials and guided tours, notions of ecology and agronomy applied to the design, implementation and management of the landscape in its rural and urban component.

Especially in recent years the Italian landscapes, particullary rural ones, are gradually returning to be the motor of an increasingly fervent tourism and economic development, as well as being an element of strong cultural identity and valuable from the point of view of foreign tourists.

That’s why it is necessary to rediscover and enhance the fundamental characteristics of our territory: Nature, Culture, Agriculture, through an innovative interpretation of the landscape.

The landscape is in fact able to catalyze and aggregate different elements, making them perceptible and recognizable in a unitary and exclusive framework.

The goal of the course is therefore, starting from the positive legacy of Expo2015, to start thinking about the rural landscape through an innovative approach that can perceive this world, anchored in the minds of most tradition, in the version 2.0, where agriculture does not only want to cultivate the land but also produce diversified services and seize the many opportunities of the new world trends on the subject always in respect of calling of these landscapes.

In this process of "updating" the young are the first interlocutors and the first supporters of this 'agricultural revolution': farming is not only tradition but can also express innovation.

Young people are interested in agriculture because it offers the possibility to get in touch with some of the most innovative and technological sectors, adding value to the process by creativity and modernity of thought.

During the course students have the opportunity to carry out a voluntary group concerning the valuation of a farmhouse complex, starting from the analysis of the rural landscape and its natural and man-made components and relational networks that animate it.

Having clear reference system, students will be able to address the specific analysis on rural complex where, thanks to the study of the major international trends on the subject, will be encouraged to think about inserting functions / innovative services which are able to revitalize the complex and can attract the interest of new users.
