RAISING SHOPS
Introduction
The change in the significance of goods is a process which, ever since the end of the Industrial Revolution, has triggered far-reaching changes in society as the term has lost any meaning in relation to its purely functional character and increasingly come to represent symbolic and cultural contents.
The practice of consumption seems today to be one of the distinctive features by means of which we can describe the social, political and economic phenomenology which, for better or worse, influence our life.
This radical transformation has led to the creation of specialized, refined, ideologically informed places: from passages to concept stores, these special places occupy an increasingly central role in society and in the organization of our landscape; nodal nerve centres which concentrate around themselves and absorb spaces dedicated to entertainment, culture and socializing.
The course propose a cross-overview of the phenomenology of design of consumption spaces, a critical reading of the processes currently under way which aims to identify the dynamics of change, providing a map of themes which in the near future will see radical changes, designing and exploring new concept for a new retail(e)scape.
Programme
The course, articulated in 5 weeks, has the aim to draw a Retail Design' framework able to generate innovative solutions. Interiors/Spatial/Environmental Design together with the Service/System Design approach, will lead the students to an olistic design output. It will include a space layout, a product collection and a shopping strategy.
Topics will be organized in 3 section, leaded by specific teams; at the end of every section, like in a relay race, the designer's will handover the output to the following section and team till the final presentation; lectures and visits to case studies, in order to keep a strong connection in between theory and practice, will be scheduled.

Note Sulla Modalità di valutazione |
The evaluation will be the result of the active classroom participation during the hours of lesson and on the effectiveness of the tested result during the programmed events, monitored through programmed revisions of the projects and the final presentation of the developed projects. Grades will be for single student also for those who will work in teams.
