The teaching is the conclusive moment of the study course, systematizing and verifying the knowledge acquired, applying it through the typical methods of a tender, developing an overall project in the spatial design ambit.

L'insegnamento si pone come momento conclusivo del corso di studi mettendo a sistema e verifiando le conoscenze acquisite applicandole attraverso le modalità tipiche del concorso siluppando un progetto complesso nell'abito dello spatial design

Students:
- are familiar with and understand the processes, methods and instruments required for interpreting in a critical manner the design themes in the widest context of cultural, social and technological transformation;
- know how to elaborate a design, with particular attention on the functional, typological, structural and technical aspects.
- operate and communicate the design choices made independently and in a team, developing an aptitude for negotiation, team building, leadership and conflict management

Lo studente:
- conosce e comprende i processi, metodi e strumenti per interpretare in modo critico le tematiche del progetto nel piu ampio contesto delle trasformazioni culturali, sociali e tecnologiche;
- sa elaborare un progetto con particolare attenzione
agli aspetti funzionali, tipologici, strutturali e tecnici.
- in autonomia e in gruppo opera e comunica le scelte progettuali effettuate, sviluppando attitudini alla negoziazione, al teambuilding, all'assunzione di leadership e alla gestione del conflitto

Spazio reale VS  spazio narrato

ll corso verterà sull’analisi di come lo spazio narrato, virtuale, atteso, progettato e pensato influenzi oggi lo spazio reale, e si propone di lavorare sullo sviluppo concreto di ipotesi  di spazi e servizi legati al nuovo intervento  di Bosco Navigli. Il progetto stabilirà una marcata continuità con la zona di Tortona-Porta Genova mediante una visione in grado di esaltare lo scenario in divenire di questa porzione urbana, manifestandone l’identità a cavallo tra passato e futuro, memoria e innovazione.L’intervento si presenta come una casa a corte pensata per stimolare la fruizione dinamica degli spazi pubblici e privati. Sviluppandosi attorno ad una corte aperta ascendente a spirale, l’edificio si allarga verso sud in direzione di un grande giardino.

Durante la fase di cantiere il quartiere dovrà però interfacciarsi con uno spazio negato, confinato, nascosto.

Come questo vuoto urbano andrà a influenzare le dinamiche dello spazio urbano circostante? Quali funzioni possono migliorare la fruizione dello spazio? In che modo sottolineare, calmierare o enfatizzare la linea di confine tra cantiere e quartiere?

 In particolare, il corso si concentrerà sulla progettazione di spazi/sevizi in relazione a due specifici ambiti:

– Border: aree di confine

– Immediato intorno geografico e reti (fisiche e virtuali)

individuando una serie di proposte che possano migliorare il rapporto tra il nuovo intervento e il quartiere che lo accoglie, rendano permeabile il confine dell’intervento e creino occasioni di interazione con l’immediato intorno geografico e le reti che da esso si diramano verso la città metropolitana di Milano.

 Le proposte potranno prevedere la progettazione di spazi permanenti, temporanei, effimeri, virtuali, che accolgano funzioni innovative, reversibili.

A supporto della fase progettuale del corso si prevedono appuntamenti settimanali con personalità di varie discipline legate al mondo del progetto. I design colloquia, attraverso incontri in aula o a distanza e moderati dai docenti del corso, offriranno una speciale occasione di approfondimento, di dialogo e di scambio collettivo.

Il Laboratorio prevede:

- seminari tematici con ospiti esterni;

- verifiche in itinere;

- revisioni ai gruppi di lavoro sul tema di progetto;

- esame finale con consegna di tavole, book, modelli e presentazione video (maggiori specifiche verranno date nel corso del laboratorio);

Fluid dynamics of spaces

Real space VS narrated space

The Contest design studio is the final moment of the course of study in Interior and Spatial design, systematizing and verifying the knowledge acquired during the two-year period, applying it through the typical methods of the contest by developing a complex project in the field of spatial design.

The course will focus on the analysis of how the narrated, virtual, expected, designed, and thought space affects the real space today, and aims to work on the concrete development of hypotheses of spaces and services related to the new intervention of Bosco Navigli.

The project will establish a hard continuity with the Tortona-Porta Genova area through a vision capable of enhancing the developing scenario of this urban portion, showing its identity between past and future, heritage and innovation.

The project looks like a courtyard house designed to stimulate the dynamic use of public and private spaces. Developed around a spiral ascending open courtyard, the building extends southwards towards a large garden. However, during the construction phase, the neighborhood will have to interface with a denied, confined, hidden space.

How will this urban void affect the dynamics of the surrounding urban space?

Which functions can improve the use of space?

How to underline, calm down or emphasize the borderline between construction site and neighborhood?

In particular, the course will focus on the design of spaces / services in relation to two specific areas:

- Border: border areas

- Immediate geographic around and networks (physical and virtual)

identifying a series of proposals that can improve the relationship between the new intervention and the neighborhood that receive it, make the border of the intervention permeable and create opportunities for interaction with the immediate geographical surroundings and the networks that branch off from it towards the Milan Metropolitan area.

The proposals may include the design of permanent, temporary, ephemeral, virtual spaces, which accommodate innovative, reversible functions.

 To support the design phase of the course, weekly appointments with personalities from various disciplines linked to the world of design are planned. The design interviews, in person or remote meetings and moderated by the course teachers, will offer a special opportunity for further study, dialogue and collective exchange.

The laboratory foresees:

- Thematic seminars with external guests

- Intermediate examination of the project work (one of this will considered an official mid-term review)

- Project revisions;

- Final exam with delivery of tables, books, models and video presentation (more specifications will be given during the design studio);

To attend the Final Synthesis Laboratory, students must pass the 1st year laboratories.

Modalità di valutazione

Il lavoro (da svolgersi in gruppo) si articolerà in una fase di ricerca metaprogettuale (problem setting) volta ad analizzare la realtà presa in considerazione, casi studio particolarmente significativi, volta inoltre ad individuare scenari innovativi. 

Seguirà una fase di definizione del concept (problem solving) e la messa a punto del progetto in termini allestitivi e comunicativi.

The work (to develop by group) will be articulated in a first phase of meta-design research (problem setting)  pick up significant case studies, in order to individuate innovative scenarios.

It will succeed a second phase of concept definition (problem solving) and the find turning of the project in terms of communication and arrangement.

Exam procedure

During the semester will be scheduled mid-term reviews, which average contribute to determinate the final evaluation.
