Programma dettagliato e risultati di apprendimento attesi

The course deals with the concepts of risk, vulnerability, and resilience either from a theoretical and an operational-planning point of view (policies, projects, programs). The course originates and is promoted within the activities of DAStU Project, Department of Excellence 2018-2022, on "Territorial Fragilities" and is divided into three thematic modules, each of which is organized in multiple lectures. The first module is devoted to the theoretical study of key concepts; the second module investigates the current socio-economic trends and phenomena that, at different scales, are making vulnerable Italian and European cities and territories; the third module offers doctoral students an overview of some of the main operational tools acting at the urban and territorial level to mitigate risks and increase urban resilience.

All lectures will include an initial ex-cathedra session followed by a discussion between lecturers and PhD students.

The critical-methodological approaches and operational tools that the course proposes are aimed at increasing the awareness and skills necessary to face the social, economic, environmental and technological challenges posed by contemporary urban and territorial contexts and to make them more resilient. 

 


Note Sulla Modalità di valutazione

All students are required, in addition to the attendance of at least 5 on 6 half-days, the preparation of a report of 2500/3000 words to be delivered within 2 months from the end of the course. The report will have to deal critically with potential connections between the course contents and the doctoral research work.
