Obiettivi dell'insegnamento
The objective is to stimulate in students a critical reflection on current design projects, starting from emblematic case studies from the past. The classic themes of product design alternated with in-depth analyses of specific cases and the new expressions in the world of design and architecture will be studied.
Risultati di apprendimento attesi
Students: - know and understand the foundations of design history and culture, with particular reference to the Italian context; - know how to decode the historical and cultural contexts in order to propose innovations that are coherent with them.
Argomenti trattati
The course will describe the main elements and movements in the history of Design, bringing to light the different possible approaches that today coexist and make Design a heterogeneous discipline, with multiple areas of interest. Some field-trips around the city will be organized in order to help students develop a more conscious and history-based approach to design phenomena.
During the course the students will also be asked to deliver short researches on several design topics to check their critical thinking skills in the field of historical studies.
