055063 - RESEARCH CHALLENGES IN PRODUCTION & SERVICE OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Programma dettagliato e risultati di apprendimento attesi
Course Aims and Learning Goals:
The course aims at introducing and discussing research challenges and new research streams in the field of production and service operations management, urged by technological transformations and mega trends (LG1.1). The most relevant research methods and models, either quantitative or qualitative, are classified and critically discussed as well (LG2.1).
Learning Objectives (LOs):
To become aware of the frontier of research in P&SOM (LO1.1.1);
To be able to identify research needs and set coherent research objectives of industrial relevance in the P&SOM field (LO1.1.2);
To be able to refer to and position your research project in the context of the core research streams in P&SOM (LO1.2.1);
To select and use background knowledge (concepts, models and tools) relevant for conducting advanced research in P&SOM field (LO2.2.1).
Pedagogical methods/tools:
The learning experience of this course includes, in addition to face-to-face lectures, discussion of cases from research and industrial practice, and a final group assignment.

Note Sulla Modalità di valutazione
Based on a group assignment (max 3 students) to be submitted in the form of a draft paper, which should address: the identification of relevant research question/s (RQs) in P&SOM (LG1), the review of the state-of-the-art (LG1), and the proposal and justification of a sound research methodology to answer the posed RQs (LG2).
The topic is chosen by each single group and validated by one of the instructors.
Evaluation: Written essay (70%); Class participation (30%)
