Programma dettagliato e risultati di apprendimento attesi

Selected Learning Goals: the Course mainly contributes to the following Programme Learning Goal:

-          ability of selecting, applying, and developing research methods in engineering and social sciences (LG2).

Course Aims: specifically, the course aims at developing the ability of applying meaningful research methods in the fields of economics, management, and industrial engineering, by means of a methodologically appropriate and well-developed model-based systems engineering approach, being aware of the required model-based analysis to enable a coherent systems thinking over the life cycle.

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs): at the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to:

-          apply mainstream research methods for modelling and simulation analysis of the structure and behaviour of complex systems (ILO2.2);

-          experiment extant methods in new or consolidated settings, conceived through a well-defined problem formulation stating the research problems and subsequent research purpose (ILO2.3).

Pedagogical methods/tools: Lectures, Presentation of Case Studies, Discussions, “Real world” simulation working in teams.


Note Sulla Modalità di valutazione

Assessment methods: Written individual assignment, consisting of a model-based analysis of a research document + Group presentation of the results of a “real world” simulation.

Evaluation: Written individual assignment 50% of the overall grade, weighting ILO2.2 for 100% + Group presentation 50% of the overall grade, weighting ILO2.2 for 30% and ILO2.3 for 70%.
