052353 - PROJECT WORK
Obiettivi dell'insegnamento
The goal of this course is to have students work on a project in direct connection with industry. The industrial partner of the project work will provide specifications of the project, usually related to some open innovation topics. Students will be divided in small groups and will work at a part of the whole project, constantly interacting with the industrial tutors, under the supervision of a professor. Students will then be exposed to a realistic and industrially relevant problem, that they are asked to work on with methodogical, algorithmic, software and hardware tools.
The goal of the course is fully aligned with the overall goals of the Automation and Control Engineering Program.
Risultati di apprendimento attesi
The expected learning outcomes of the course belong to the technological and design area of the expected learning outcomes of the Program.
Specifically, at the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to:
-work in group with fellow engineers;
-approach a possibly complicated problem and break it down into manageable sub-problems;
-apply technical skills learnt in previous courses to solve the problem at hand;
-present partial and final results to the public, and discuss alternative solutions.
Argomenti trattati
The project work is held in direct collaboration with a company, which proposes an innovation topic. The course is attended by a restricted number of students who are organized in small groups. The students interact with the company staff and with a professor of POLIMI, who supervises the activities and gives the methodological and design framework. The project work entails attending classes at the university as well as working in direct contact with the company.
For the Academic Year 2019/2020 the specific sub-topics will be announced before the beginning of the courses.
Prerequisiti
The contents of the courses in the first year of the the Automation and Control Engineering MSc Program can be taken as prerequisites for this course.
Modalità di valutazione
At the end of the project work the students will write a report of their activities and give a group presentation of the achieved results. The presentation will be given in front of the academic and industrial tutors, as well as of the other students.
