Obiettivi dell'insegnamento
Creativity in fashion begins from a clear understanding of the textiles and their best final uses. During this course students approach the Italian fashion system and its industrial processes: fibres, yarns, fabrics, finishes, with an updated overview of new technologies. Teaching comes closer to the principles of market analysis, collection creation times, prices and costs, the role carried out in the sector by the product manager, tendencies, research and development, the selection of yarns and fabrics.

Students: - know and understand the methods of use of the textile materials; - can apply the materials of which they have studied the technical and sensory specifications; - can autonomously analyse the reference market, the tendencies and development of the yarn and fabric sector
Argomenti trattati
The creativity in fashion starts from a clear understanding of the textile materials and their best end uses. In this course students approach the italian fashion system, the industrial processes concerning fibres, yarns, fabrics, finishing, altogether with an updated overview on new technologies. The lectures focus on the case history and study of the most known brands, exploring the apparel industry all the way through the supply chain. The factors that produce successful lines in the marketplace will be considered.The course also approaches to the principles of market analysis, collections timing, pricing and costing. The role played in the industry by the product manager. The Trends. Research and development. Yarns & fabrics selection.Collection timing and planning. Each student will approach the basic principles and characteristics of economic issues in the pricing system wholesale and retail.
Prerequisiti
There are no pre-requisites for attendance.
Modalità di valutazione
For the final exam every students will present a project designing a small line of 5-7 styles Menswear or Women-wear, identifying:
- Materials used / A book of at least 30 fabrics with a description of each fabric and best end use
- Target consumer of the collection
- Competitors of the line in the market
- Prices retail and wholesale
- Timing for the realization of the collection
