B.I.M. (Building Information Modeling) is growing importance all over the world becoming to be the present/next-future standard in design and construction fields. It is something that any young architect had to know and to actively use very well. The BIM workflow in particular it is something that must be digested and absorbed as a discipline especially working within international and multidisciplinary team. BIM was already a standard for large infostructure in the last decade, but it was rarely considered a must if applied to the territory; GIS standards use to rule the urban/territory digital representation. But the things are quickly changing... In this course the main goal is to apply BIM to the building scale (as usual) but also to a large section of the surroundings, a context large enough to be defined as landscape and maybe territory. The teaching module aims to provide the student with the digital tools useful for representing and modeling complex architectures, by decomposing into simple geometric shapes and applying BIM software that makes it possible to control them. To achieve these goals, the course will consist of a far more prevalent practical part than the theoretical one as a complementary procedural support. The teaching of the interoperable BIM architectural modeling software will be delivered interactively. It is requested that students will follow step-by-step lessons through the use of the PC. A primary goal of the course is to make the students independent in the use of the software. The first step will be to arrive to have a correct and true building BIM representation trough the modeling. During the exercises several different digital instruments will be explained and used: CAD, free-form modelers (with parametric extensions), CAAD, up to the latest Interoperable Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems also in relation with the recent European and National guidelines for public procurement. The practical part will be complemented by a series of theoretical short lessons concerning parametric modeling of architecture in relation to territory, rendering and advanced visualization possibilities. The representation of the territory with BIM instrument will be approximate, in relation to the goals of the course, to the reach a very good level of detail. In particular, the need will be to highline the relation between the rural buildings and the entropized and cultivated context. Examples of buildings designed and constructed with parametric digital BIM platforms will be provided, used not only to show the optimization of the production process, but also the new incoming BIM design workflow procedure. The reference BIM program for this course will be ArchiCAD.
Modalità di valutazione
During the couse several exercises will requested to be solved form the students. Most of them will be stand alone exercises.
The final exercise of the course foresees the realization of a complete architectural model, as a reproduction of a real architecture. This esxercise is usully a teamwork of a small group of students. It will be given a template about levels of detail and fomats of the delivery of the final model.
The exam will be a presentation of the final exercise (BIM Model) with a public detailed explanation of the work done.
