053320 - SUSTAINABILITY AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Obiettivi dell'insegnamento
The teaching aims to support the students in improving their knowledge and skills on environmental and technological design. The student will develop a theoretical and critical ability in the analysis of historical and contemporary technologies and of the relationship between the different systems that form the building organism. Thus through the study of a series of case studies and an informed and proper experimentation of the design process applied to the reuse of an historical building. The didactic model foresees an activity that simulate, with the necessary simplifications, the different and complex phases of the preliminary design (draft/brief), the final design (permission to built) and the detailed design (project/working plan).
The teaching is mainly designed to increase the technical and operational competences required to manage the technological and environmental issues, and to coordinate the multidisciplinary contributions that take part in the architectural design process.
The integrated course composes a module of Building Technology, 4 cfu, and a module of Methods and Tools in Environmental Control, 4 cfu.
Risultati di apprendimento attesi
After passing the exam, the student: understands the characteristics, needs and constraints of technological and environmental processes, applied to the context of historical matrix; is able to select the principles useful for obtaining solutions to technological and environmental problems, measuring the performance of a built complex; is able to independently manage problems not strictly related to the problems faced in teaching, taking motivated decisions.

Modalità di valutazione
The final exam is individual and oral. The students (both attending and not attending ones) will be evaluated starting from an application work, (which requested contents will be illustrated in the first lecture and described in a document available on BEEP), with regard to the subjects and the contents of the work developed. Each student will have to be able to demonstrate his consciousness with regard to the design choices, in terms of feasibility, technological options, environmental improvement, energy performance. After the presentation and the evaluation of the results of the application, each student will have to answer to some specific questions about the theoretical and practical contents of the two modules of the teaching. Lecture contents will be available on Beep and in the given bibliography The evaluation will consider the student's capability in deepening and re-elaborating the scientific contents of lessons, seminars and bibliography, linking them to the practical activity developed during the design work.
