Aim of the course
The aim of the course is to provide students with a general overview of European and Italian legislation with regard to urban planning.
It will also introduce the main principles of urban law and it will provide an overview of key concepts, issues, methods and tools.
The course will also include guest lectures in the field of public private partnerships (PPP) relating to infrastructure projects.

Expected learning outcomes
The course, including coursework and seminars, will provide students with the following learning outcomes:
detailed knowledge of the field of planning legislation in an international context
the ability to apply theoretical knowledge regarding legislation to real-world cases
the ability to connect, select and apply the most appropriate framework (e.g. cultural legislation, public contract legislation, cultural heritage laws, public private partnership legislation, etc.) to specific cases
Urban planning general principles: European territorial governance
Building plans: general and specific area plans
Administrative acts for building: planning permissions; planning agreements and obligations, control and sanctions
Landscape assets: Definitions of Landscape; Protection and Promotion
Public buildings projects. PPP infrastructure projects.
Three-year bachelor degree (Laurea Triennale) in one of the subjects required for admission to the Master of Science (Laurea Magistrale) course
Modalità di valutazione
Written examination. For students attending classes, based on the materials published on BeeP; for not attending students, based on text published on section Suggested reading/”Bibliografia”
The examination will test the following:
candidates’ knowledge of the field of planning legislation in an international context
candidates’ ability to read and interpret legislation and to connect the various areas of action, as well as their acquisition of a working method.
candidates’ ability to apply theoretical knowledge regarding legislation to real-world cases
candidates’ ability to connect, select and apply the most appropriate framework to specific cases
