Obiettivi dell'insegnamento
Teaching is concentrated on the planning of temporary solutions for a host city, in close contact with local realities. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, opportunities will be explored for improving the sense of belonging to the neighbourhood, implementing social innovation and producing scenarios that can transform temporariness into permanence. This course is proposed by the School as an optional teaching group with innovative education characteristics that support students as they acquire and strengthen their transversal skills.

Students: - know and understand the specifications for producing a temporary installation; - can analyse the reference context to find project solutions that are coherent with the project brief; - autonomously and in a group make project choices, developing skills for the creative solution of problems, team building and leadership.

The public space is becoming a place of social innovation in which creative communities act to create new solutions to everyday problems that the economic system and the society are no longer able to give. The bottom-up actions of these active groups of citizens who choose their answers is combined with top-down action of the institutions that can’t turn a blind eye to the obvious needs of the citizens. Temporary solutions often give a new perspective to the use of public spaces by creating real scenarios that could be develop into long-term solutions after a prototyping and testing phase.
This course will focus on temporary design actions to be done in local neighbourhoods to be defined.
The course will explore the opportunities to enhance the sense of belonging to the neighobourhood, attracting people and actions. Technical services (DIY infrastructures), a process of formal identification (installations), in order to host social activities (service design).
Students will be required to work in team to design temporary solutions (service, spaces, toolkits) to be tested (prototyped) in order to support and carry out the existing actions and to develop new “design activist” solutions.

Modalità di valutazione
The evaluation will be the result of the active classroom participation during the hours of lesson and on the effectiveness of the tested result during the programmed events, monitored through feedabck session and the final presentation of the developed projects.
Grades will be for single student also for those who will work in teams.
