Gli insegnamenti opzionali consentono allo studente di completare la propria formazione e di caratterizzare il proprio profilo formativo scegliendo secondo i propri interessi personali le tematiche di approfondimento tra un ampio ventaglio di alternative.

The optional courses allow the student to complete his/her own study program and to characterize his/her own training profile choosing, according to his/her own personal interests, the themes of deepening among a wide range of alternatives.

Secondo i Descrittori di Dublino (DdD), il superamento dell’esame attesta l'acquisizione dei seguenti risultati:

DdD 1 (conoscenza e comprensione), 3 (autonomia di giudizio), 4 (abilità comunicative) e 5 (capacità di apprendimento)

- capacità di acquisire, elaborare autonomamente e comunicare conoscenze non strettamente inerenti i temi caratterizzanti del Corso di laurea (DdD 1, 3, 4 e 5).

According to the Dublin Descriptors (DdD), passing the exam certifies the acquisition of the following results:

DdD 1 (knowledge and understanding), 3 (autonomy of judgment), 4 (communication skills) and 5 (learning ability)

- ability to acquire, process independently and communicate knowledge not strictly related to the subjects characterizing the Master Program (DdD 1, 3, 4 and 5)

Nell'ambito del corso verrà sviluppato un progetto architettonico/urbano all’interno della città di Milano. Il corso nasce come workshop organizzato attraverso un’intensa attività progettuale, che abbraccerà i due moduli integrati.

Visto il carattere del corso con una spiccata prevalenza progettuale; sia all’interno di questo modulo che a quello di  Architectural design theory ad esso integrato, saranno dedicate un numero rilevante di ore alla revisione e discussione degli elaborati.

Il percorso progettuale verrà sviluppato attraverso schizzi, disegni e, in particolare, maquettes; le frequenti revisioni consentiranno di seguire tutto il processo compositivo di ciascun studente, che potrà lavorare in gruppi da 2 o massimo 3 persone.

Il processo progettuale richiesto si svolgerà in un'unica fase di lavoro sin dalle prime lezioni, che includeranno, se possibile, una visita all’area di progetto.

L’esercitazione progettuale si concentrerà sullo sviluppo di una struttura architettonica e urbana con carattere pubblico, con particolare attenzione all’articolazione delle differenti scale progettuali: architettonica, urbana e territoriale. Il lavoro viene sviluppato attraverso la lettura della struttura morfo-tipologica della città e del paesaggio circostante,

L’apparato architettonico non sarà inteso come oggetto a sé stante, ma dovrà contribuire a definire lo spazio pubblico aperto attraverso un chiaro e misurato progetto della forma del vuoto; condizione quella del vuoto con la quale il processo progettuale

dovrà continuamente confrontarsi.

Sono previste una serie di lezioni ex cathedra che supporteranno le attività progettuali del workshop. Queste costituiranno materiale propedeutico allo sviluppo dell’esercitazione progettuale.

Il tema, il programma, i materiali e l’ulteriore bibliografia di riferimento verranno comunicati agli studenti durante la prima lezione.

L’esame consisterà nella discussione orale del progetto, singolo o di gruppo, attraverso una critica finale aperta a docenti esterni. Si chiede agli studenti un numero minimo di revisioni obbligatorie del progetto in aula per la validazioen dell'esame.

Per gli studenti non frequentanti il corso è previsto un esame orale approfondito  su 5 testi inerenti al progetto urbano e architettonico. Il dettaglio dei testi verrà fornito all'inizio del corso e inviato via mail a tutti gli iscritti.

During the workshop, the students will develop the design of a system of open and built-up spaces within the urban fabric of Milan. The course will be organized as a workshop with an intensive project activities, that it will be developed among the two integrated modules.

The character of the course has a strong prevalence of the design part; both within this module and in that of Architectural design theory integrated to it, in fact a significant number of hours will be dedicated to the review and discussion of the projects.

The design process will be developed through sketches, drawings and, in particular, models; the frequent revisions allow to follow the entire composition process of each student, who will work in groups of 2 or 3 maximum people.

The required design process will take place in a single phase from the first lesson, which it will include a visit to the project area.

The project theme will focus on the development of an architectural and urban public building with particular attention to the articulation of different scales: architectural, urban and territorial. The work will be developed through the reading of the morpho-typological structure of the city of Milan and of its surrounding landscape.

The architectural element should not be considered as an object isolated in itself, but it should help to define the system of public and open space through a clear and measured project that reshapes the void; with this void condition the design process must constantly confront itself.

A series of lectures ex-cathedra will support the project activities during the workshop. The lessons will constitute a preliminary materials to the development of the project.

The exam will consist of an oral discussion on the project through a final review open to external professors. It's mandatory a minimum number of project reviews to enroll the exam. 

For students,  who are not attending the course, is provided an exam on 5 urban and architectural design books. The list of the books will be showed at the beginning of the course and sent by mail to all students.

The professors  will give to class the complete bibliography during the first lesson.
