In the Laboratory, students work with design themes for the realisation of clothes and/or collections (men, women, sportswear) in the light of the most recent tendencies and technologies. Students are guided in the realisation of models, digital representation and in the presentation of project results.

One of the biggest challenge in Sportswear will definitely be PROTECTION and SAFETY applied to sportswear and accessories.
Being able to seize the opportunity offered by new technologies becomes more and more important if applied to apparel and accessories. New materials and new technology which directly affect lifestyle. Fashion is sport and fashion looks closely at sport, with products that combine performance and style, with a design process which encompass wearable technologies, new fabrics, style and function in different fields, including environment.
We have seen in the last few years a focus on SAFETY and PROTECTIONS: it's obvious that their diffusion is currently beyond the first step of diffusion to elite athlete only.
The Fashion Design Workshop it's built around the idea of a cohesive teaching, binding the whole teaching staff to the development of the whole process. The central theme will be protections and sportswear, with the intent of analizing what is currently available on the market and highlight the future directions of development. Attention will be given to the use of new technologies in sport, together with a leader brand in the segment of innovative yarns and textiles like Radici Group.
Main partner will be SLAM, and the focus of the course will be on SAILING, with the project revolving around new, faster sailboats (FOILS) and the challenge they bring to safety for sailors.
Throughout the mixing of different disciplines, events, places, sponsors, brands and products, all different phases of the development of a new product will be touched: from research and outling of the strategies to design and development up until merchandise planning, the teaching staff will help students to develop a possible new collection for a leader brand with innovative and interactive details.
The teaching staff, with the cooperation of leader brands and professionals, will offer to the students the opportunity to develop high level know how of strategy, planning and R&D. The students will be supported in defining a design logic which will support an innovation process and the basics to understand how to develop a new article from scratch, up to product launch on the market. Market reasearch and analysis will support the student in understanding eventual placement. Throughout lessons (held by teaching staff, with the purpose of giving to the students the instruments to approach the theme of the course), talk show (meetings coordinated by teaching staff with high profile professionals like Product Manager or Designers) and project work (supervised and organized by the teaching staff), an innovative method will be outlined, with the purpose of creating in the student a correct form in approaching the work market.
There are no pre-requisites for attendance.
Modalità di valutazione
Capacity to represent, draw (manual and digital) an properly use all the instruments and techniques necessary to create and develop the project and furthermore communicate via images, schemes and presentations in all the different stages of the project.
Coerence of methodology and the abilty to build a process that envision research and analysis, knowledge of the context and ambiance and understanding of the brief and requests.
Verbal skills apt to present the project, sustain the thesis and eventually argumentate the main points and strenghts.
Teamwork and the abilty to interact in a group and share skills, knowledge and visions.
Critical approach to the project and capability to bring innovation to the project and eventually to the processes needed to create a new system.
