The workshop will be based on interdisciplinary studies of fashion in relation to contemporary culture. The course's main goal is to teach the students how to approach the discipline of Fashion Design through a cross-fertilization of knowledge and to give them an analysis of existing case studies. 

The programme will therefore be based on a project work in which the student will practice the skills and knowledge acquired in the previous years. The objective of the projects will be to start a continuous process of shared knowledge feeding innovation in the field of Fashion.

The theoretical part supporting the project activities will analyze womenswear and menswear through:

1 - historical studies - the birth of an item: military apparel, workwear and other types of apparels 

2 - social studies - the development of the item: the actual use of an apparel, and the process of iconization

3 - evolution in fashion  - design history: the interpretation of an item through the work of designers and brands from the 1920's to now

This theoretical part will be followed by a project module in which the student will deliver his/her own interpretation of the item in several ways and mainly through:

- tailoring (assembly, proportion)

- materials (new,unexpected)

- accessorizing (new, unexpected)

- contestualizing
