The course will be focused to the introduction of different techniques of drawing: Freehand, technical and computer drawing, with the presentations of basic concepts about spatial description both in the architectural and urban scale.
Every Architect should have good knowledge about technical drawings and the right control of it, because this will be his main expression tool. Architecture without representation is like an orchestra without instruments.
A particular attention will be dedicated to the theme of orthogonal projections, axonometric and perspective. Lessons will touch some topics like Descriptive Geometry as science of graphical representation of three-dimensional lines, surfaces and solids with emphasis and development of drawing skills.

The lectures will be targeted, through classroom exercises and at home, to the understanding of urban space and architecture through the use of different techniques and digital practices. There will be a free hand exercises, and drawings from life view during the outdoor classes; computer exercises for learning the tools of digital design in 2D and 3D, through programs aimed for this purpose; exercises targeted to the use of modern modeling techniques for mesh and point cloud from photographs.
Students should keep a sketchbook on which to draw: sketches in the classroom, freehand drawings, sketches from life view, studies and analysis of architectures or personal drawings. 

Students will assimilate the theory from lectures that will support them during practice exercises.  Purpose of this course is to learn both right methods about drawings and critical sense from the analysis of contemporary architecture in relationship with his urban fabric.
At the same time physical modelling is considered important to understand 3D architectural proportions and executive methods.
The student will be required to do graphic exercises in any kind of drawing.
The output of the Studio activities will be checked and valued.
