The history and practice of building cities and architectural artefacts formed in time a number of spatial models we can name and describe, and track in their endless number of variations. This architectural “corpus” influences our response to the new needs expressed by society, creating a number of partially stereotyped solutions which respond to equally stereotyped social expectations.

On the other side, we constantly try to adapt existing spaces to our new needs with a rearrangement of their smaller features such as furniture, carpets, decors, temporary installations, signs; we operate on them additions and alterations, painting, repairs. The dialectic between these two “modes of description” of human environments will be the base of a series of quick reflections on the nature of dwelling the spaces of our lives and the space of the city.
