"The course on Virtualization for embedded systems is structured to offer a foundational understanding and practical skills necessary for designing and managing systems where applications of varying criticalities share computational resources. Through detailed lectures and hands-on sessions, the course covers the breadth and depth of virtualization techniques, platforms, and challenges uniquely faced by mixed-criticality systems in automotive, aerospace, avionic, and IoT domains.
The programme of the course is as follows:
Introduction to the course (Introduction to Virtualization, Virtual Machine Monitors and Hypervisors),
Introduction to mixed-criticality embedded systems (Embedded and Mixed-Criticality Systems Overview, Technical Issues for Embedded Applications, Resource management and scheduling in Embedded Linux),
Virtualization approaches in mixed-criticality embedded systems (Taxonomy and General-purpose Hypervisors, Separation Kernels and Microkernels, Lightweight Virtualization, Trusted Execution Environments),
