"After introducing the basic concepts of HCI, the course will focus on models, methods and interaction paradigms peculiar to AI systems. The lessons will be organized as follows:
*Introduction (6h)*:
- Introduction to Human-AI Interaction.
- Basic principles of Human-Centered Design, Usability and User eXperience.
- Presentation of project themes and group formation.
*Designing Human-AI Interaction* (10h):
- Artificial Intelligence vs Intelligence Augmentation
- Reading panel on Substitution vs. augmentation, with the involvement of students discussing the main issues emerging from some recommended readings
- Paradigms for Human-AI Interaction: smart interface vs. conversational (with or without anthropomorphism and its effect: uncanny valley)
- Explainability for interactive AI systems
- Reading panel on Explainability, with the involvement of students discussing the main issues emerging from some recommended readings
*Hands-on sessions* (5h):
- Designing and prototyping interfaces for knowledge exploration through Large Language Models
Final evaluation: Project presentation and discussion (4h)" |
