Fundamentals of statistics Descriptive statistics. Main distributions. Hypothesis testing. Type I and type II errors, Statistical power. Parametric tests. Non-parametric tests. Analysis of variance. Bland-Altman analysis. Corrections for multiple test comparisons. Comparison between proportions. Correlation and regression. Experimental design Introduction to experimental design. A taxonomy of clinical studies. Statistics power and sample size computation. Meta-analysis. Survival analysis Kaplan-Meier curves. Log-rank test, Cox-regression analysis.
Attendants of this course will learn basic statistical tools to report experimental data and apply adequate testing strategies in the biomedical research field. They will also be introduced to fundamentals of experimental design methods in clinical studies, to better understand medical literature and gain specific terminology. |
