Course Description |
The course deals with the relationship between protection and valorization of a territory and will provide the fundamentals for the effective and efficient management of a cultural asset. The main aim of the course is to provide to students the critical skills needed to promote (and to design) actions coupling cultural heritage conservation with social, cultural and economic development for a region.
Students will face the cultural issues (the need for "protection of cultural assets"), the economic issues, (resources allocation for the conservation and "value" of cultural assets and services) and the environmental issues (built heritage, environment and landscape) and trained in dealing with the main questions related to the conservation:
- the knowledge of cultural assets (survey and data management);
- the understanding of their interaction with the economic and environmental systems;
- the design and planning of continuous conservation activities;
- the integration of conservation plans in territorial development policies;
- the metrics of the success of a development policy, at a medium and longer term (i.e occupational opportunities) and of the "territorial capital" (cultural and environmental assets);
- the communication strategy of a cultural heritage valorization project. |
