Course Title |
PERTURBATION METHODS FOR ASTRODYNAMICAL AND ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS |
Course Type |
MONODISCIPLINARE |
Credits (CFU / ECTS) |
5.0 |
Course Description |
The course focuses on perturbation methods for astrodynamical applications. Analytical and numerical methods for the modelling of orbital dynamics and attitude dynamics based on Hamiltonian mechanics and Lie transforms method will be presented. In particular the course will cover the following topics:
1. Basics on Hamiltonian mechanics and the Hamilton-Jacobi equation
2. Introduction to the Lie transforms method
3. Simple applications: mathematical pendulum, stark effect.
4. Attitude dynamics: the gravity-gradient perturbation
5. Orbital dynamics: the geopotential perturbation, solar radiation pressure and Earth's oblateness effect |
