MISSION AND GOALS
The Course is intended to provide to PhD Students the most advanced analysis tools for biomedical applications such as in physiological studies and clinical applications. The Course will describe how integrate data and information from different types of recording systems (multimodality and multivariate), of organs (multiorgan) and across different scales (multiscale). Lectures are organized in three main sections: Signal analysis for features extraction, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining and Modelling; Applications. The first part of the course will present how to manage complex information, causality and directionality, nonlinear and fractal properties of biological signals. The features obtained from this approach could be successively used to classify, cluster or predict clinical outcomes through data mining and machine learning approaches. It is the topic of the second part of the course. Methods and their main applications in the biomedical context will be presented. The third part will focus on an integrative physiology for a more personalized medicine. Examples will be taken from cardiovascular system, respiratory, central and autonomic nervous systems. Didactic form is by monographic seminars. Students will develop a project among the ones proposed by the teachers and presented in the first lesson covering the course topics. As a final learning result, students will know the most
advanced signal analysis methods together with application examples and the main criteria to evaluate their application in different Biomedical Signals
TEACHING ORGANIZATION

LEARNING EVALUATION
Didactic form is by monographic seminars. Students will develop a project among the ones proposed by the teachers and presented in the first lesson covering the course topics. Project results will be evaluated in a presentation session scheduled at the end of the Course As a final learning result, students will know the most advanced signal analysis methods together with application examples and the main criteria to evaluate their application in different Biomedical Signals |
