Course Description The course provides doctoral students with advanced concepts of thermodynamics that form a general basis for applied research in different fields. The first part of the course will focus on thermodynamic properties, while the second on applications to physical systems of relevance to the development of modern technologies. - Properties of pure substances - Properties of mixtures - Models for non-electrolytic solutions - Models for electrolytic solutions - The estimate of properties - Phase equilibria for multicomponent systems. Applications - Equilibrium of thermodynamics systems subject to forms of work other than expansion and compression - Magnetic substances - Dielectrics - Superconductivity - Surface and interface phenomena - Thermodynamics of radiation - Elastic solids - Galvanic elements Note: the specific program of the course will be defined every year according with students curricula and their main research interest.
