Course Title |
NONLINEAR OPTIMAL CONTROL WITH APPLICATIONS |
Course Type |
MONO-DISCIPLINARY COURSE |
Credits (CFU / ECTS) |
5.0 |
Course Description |
This course is intended to provide an introduction to the optimal control theory and to discuss its applications, with special emphasis (but not limited) to aerospace engineering. The theoretical part deals with general nonlinear dynamical systems, and follows mainly the calculus-of-variations approach. Both indirect and direct approaches are treated, with unbounded and bounded control. The numerical methods used to solve the optimal control problems are also discussed.
Specific items to be considered are:
1. Nonlinear Programming: unconstrained problems, problems with equality and inequality constraints
2. Optimal Control: Euler-Lagrange theorem, Pontryagin minimum principle
3. Numerical Methods: indirect methods and direct methods |
